In reply to Erica Shell.

I have always wanted to make scones but wanted one that was the traditional texture and not “biscuity”. I read the ingredients and decided to try your recipe. I made the cinnamon scones and added one egg. I used the regular-sized grater instead of the small for the frozen butter.
After the scones came out of the oven I opted to sprinkle mixed cinnamon and sugar on the tops. The texture was great. I prefer them a little sweeter so will increase next time. This will be my go to recipe going forward.

great. The only problem, which was my mistake, was trying to baste them after I put them in the oven. They were a little bit on the rise. They would have been beautiful otherwise. They did taste good and were not dense in spite of my goof.

I recently received a lovely compliment on them. I had signed up to make sugar cookies for an event at my church. Shortly afterwards I received a message requesting these scones that I made for them last year!! So versatile too! Thanks for making me look good 🤣

I’ve NEVER baked scones in my life! I used the egg, shredded the frozen butter and used a pastry cutter to incorporate it. I got distracted by my kids and even though I had the sugar measured out…I forgot to add it with the dry ingredients. And then I forgot to add the vanilla. So just as I was ready to drop it onto my pastry mat to bring the dough together…I added the sugar and vanilla and a prayer! LOL! Well, the scones baked in the oven about 19 minutes at 425. They didn’t brown too much with my egg wash, they spread a little, but as soon as they cooled my son grabbed the butter and a knife and we ate one. OMG! Delicious! Not too sweet, just enjoyable and wonderful. I have to save the rest until the morning… looking forward to making the other flavors soon. Like tomorrow soon!! 🙂 Thank you for this wonderful recipe.

These were so amazing. It was a bit wet at the end so I sprinkled flour till it had the right texture and they came out perfect. I used the food process to pulse my butter down and it worked very well.

I baked mine on parchment paper and they did not stick at all.

I did vanilla and almond extract with coconut shreds and cinnamon in mine. Kiddos loved it. I put some butter in the center and sprinkle with powder sugar for them.

Will be keeping this recipe for sure.

I have made many of the flavors posted here and they all were really good. I did make a few variations and my favorite was apricot and white chocolate chip. I like to add a little raw sugar on top to give it a little sparkle.

Few tips I have discovered:
•Grate the butter as fast as you can and toss the flour mixture onto the grated butter to coat it before mixing it.
•If you use an egg, crack it into a measuring cup then add up to the 1 Cup line with the cream.
•Don’t over work the dough, just mix it enough to incorporate the dry ingredients. Press the dough together when shaping it on a heavily floured surface
•Coat each side of the triangle pieces with flour to help keep shape

Love these scones, as does everyone that has tried them.
Couple hints:
• If you add an egg, crack it in your measuring cup then add the cream up to 1 cup (dough won’t be too sticky)
•Don’t over work the dough; you are just shaping and pressing the dough, not kneading it.
•Drizzle an orange glaze (powdered sugar and orange juice) over the chocolate chip scones-delicious
• After you cut the scones into triangles, coat then with more flour on all sides (less sticky and helps keep their shape)
