It transforms the delicious bacon strips into this sweet and salty candy with a nice slight chew. The slight heat leaves your taste buds craving more. Really, it is just ridiculously good.
It could be served plain or incorporated into almost any dish where you’d use regular bacon. Trust me, it’ll take the whole thing up a notch. Salads, appetizers, soups, breakfast items, and more.You can also incorporate it into desserts. The possibilities really are endless! What does it mean to candy something? You see it all the time on cooking shows and such. It is really quite simple. It just means that you are coating something in some sort of sugar. Usually you’d be melting the sugar first which should be done low and slow as to not burn. The above recipe dissolves the sugar into the maple syrup and melts during the baking process.

Hi. This looks and sounds yummy!! I’m just curious why the bacon isn’t laid on a slotted or wired, raised surface so the fat goes underneath the bacon when it cooks. The only thing I can picture by laying the strips flat on a pan is pulling it out of the oven to find the bacon covered with fat. I watched the video to find out and it doesn’t show it! For anyone who’s already made it, how to you deal with the fat?

Yes. Similar to how you’d cook bacon in a pan in its own fat, you bake it this way as well. It’s quite delicious and you don’t lose out on all that flavor.

I can’t tell you how many bacon recipes I’ve tried… but by far this is the best EVER and by a landslide. It’s definitely sweet and there’s no hiding that but that cayenne pepper is so unexpected! I honestly suck at writing reviews but D A M N, this recipe is incredible.

Should work!
Turkey bacon is usually very limp, so I don’t think it would be a good option.
